Breathe Easy, Joon Bug: A Journey to Healing

Meet Joon Bug, a resilient and sweet 8-year-old dog who recently came under the care of PAR. Joon Bug's story is one of survival and hope. She arrived in our care emaciated and underweight, her frail body struggling.

Upon immediate medical evaluation by Dr. Emilie at Aspen Tree Animal Care, we discovered that Joon Bug's suffering extended far beyond her visible condition. She has bow-legged back legs, which are challenging but manageable. However, the most pressing issue is her inability to breathe properly. Joon Bug's breathing difficulties have caused her ribcage to expand drastically, making it nearly impossible for her to even let out a bark.

Despite these challenges, Joon Bug has an unwavering spirit and a will to survive. We have transitioned her to a completely fresh food diet, and she is scheduled for Stenotic Nares surgery on August 7th with the incredible team at CSU Fort Collins. This critical surgery, costing approximately $3,000, will allow her to breathe freely for the first time in her life. Given her age and the severity of her condition, she has also required and will continue to require extensive oxygen therapy before and after the surgery.

We have already invested thousands of dollars into her care, and the costs will continue to rise with the upcoming surgery and post-operative care. However, we are committed to giving Joon Bug the chance at a healthy and happy life that she so deserves.
